Moreton Bay College (MBC) – Tennis Court Project Profile

At Moreton Bay College, students enjoy exceptional opportunities to experience a broad range of sporting activities that inspire and empower. The sporting tradition continues with the rebuild of seven brand new tennis courts at MBC.

The project was completed in just under 5 months – A complete knock down and rebuild. RELN’s Storm Drain Pro™ Series 200 was used throughout the fence boundary to ensure all surfacewater was caught and moved away from the tennis courts. Storm Drain Pro™ Series 200 is durable, easy to install, plumber friendly, requires no corners or tee pieces to change directions, captures large volumes of water flow and complies to Australian Standard AS3996 Class B and Class C Load Ratings.

Application:
The drain design required a reinforced base with a U-shaped bar running under the drain that was tied into the concrete slabs.

The team at Jordin Sports Construction installed Stom Drain Pro™ Series 200 on approximately 150mm of concrete to bed it into position, and to keep it straight before pouring slabs either side of drain.

The main challenge faced by the team was to keep the drains crucially positioned in a straight line and at eye level. The project scale was quite large with sections of drain that run 60/70.

Requirement:
A drain was required to be installed along the fence line to cater for all surface water sheeting off the courts measuring approx. 4500sqm of surface area.

At certain intervals along the drain the team tapped into the bottom of drain and dispersed the water through the retaining wall.

The end of the drain is finished with RELN’s Commercial Series 600 Deep Pit. The heavy-duty commercial pits are durable, environmentally friendly, ideal for commercial applications, offer Class A or B Load Rating requirements and come with lock down security grates that secure into place. The pit was specifically chosen for its water capacity load that will be able to effortlessly direct the flow into the school’s natural water gully.
